The Dot & Dash Étagère is a spawn design from the predecessor ladder. Its name sake remained, just as the predominant details did. Of which come from morse code; a character-encoding scheme that allows operators to send messages using a series of electrical pulses represented as dots and dashes.

This is where my Dot & Dash series came from. A simple method of communication that one must be fluent in, to translate efficiently and a secret from anyone not privy. Characters are sequenced as two different signal durations using dots and dashes. These codes are transmitted as electrical pulses of varied lengths to the receiver who then translates them. To the naked and untrained ear, they are hard to understand, but careful analysis would reveal much more. The goal is to make one question and evokes the viewer to look closer. I used the joinery details to stimulate this curiosity.
