SOFA RUNNER

Thoughtfully crafted in 2024

Gâteau, french for “cake,” was a fitting name for this elegant and whimsical sofa table design. This unique table features a long triangular shape that was designed to fill a space that would have otherwise been unusable. The apron details and three legged form lended well to the name. I hoped to embrace simplicity with a slice of sweetness.

FUNCTIONAL FORMS

It's always a lot of fun to see how a design evolves from an initial prompt. The client of this piece reached out to me with the simple need for a long triangular table with three legs. The table would tuck between the back side of a sofa and a corresponding wall. Because the shortest side would be the only viewable portion of the piece, I could focus my attention there. Pulling from other elements in the occupied space, a ruffled wooden apron with contrasting buttons is born.
