Thoughtfully crafted in 2021

The Insignia Bench was a subtle approach at representing worn rank, badges, and medals in the military. Weaving paper Jute through the wall profile and stretchers to fashion the seat, the top rails create low “shoulder” boards. The cross supports are mortised into the sides and secured with brass dowels to abstractly reflect insignia from service uniforms.

OPEN TO GROWTH

This bench reflects my willingness to learn skills that stretch outside of wood manipulation, by introducing danish cord weaving techniques that I had to study before designing and making this piece.
